Fuss Free Formal-wear:

Spring/Summer brings with it weddings, race days, and formal events a plenty. So if your like me and the thought of dropping a bomb on a stuffy dress that not only are you going to wear just once but also veers completely away from your every day style and personality why not try something a little different this year?!

Below I have put together some outfit combinations that will keep you elegant and dressed appropriately but will also help you stand out a little for all te right reasons of course. The separates are all pieces you can break up and mix into your everyday wardrobe to ensure you receive cost per wear rather than spending a fortune on a Coast dress you’ll wear only once!

Well this option is defiantly for the braver ladies of the bunch but can look so chic and formal if styled correctly. Just make sure it is a perfect tailored fit and keep everything else delicate and feminine. For example go with a barely there strappy sandal or high pointed stiletto to dress that suit right up. I also would recommend a silk cami or lace crop top for inside the jacket or if your brave enough wear it bare and simply tape it to your chest to make sure there’s no modesty malfunctions!! A bright lipstick is also a great trick to add a little more femininity and sass to your tailored look.

This personally is my favourite style option for formal events right now. I love introducing sceptical customers to the combination during appointments in Topshop where I work as Personal Stylist as they are almost always pleasantly surprised. A high waisted either pencil or bell shaped midi skirt with a crop top is the perfect combination for that special wedding you have coming up! Personally the thoughts of wearing a crop top used to make me flinch in fear but if worn with a skirt that is appropriately high waisted and joins with the top it can be so flattering on every size and shape and bares very little midriff at all. It’s only if your jumping around you see a little peak of the skin at your waist which is most people’s slimmest part anyways! My styling tips are to pair your two pieces with a pointed stiletto as it will elongate the leg which is super important when wearing a mid length skirt. Any straps around the ankle will cut you off and shorten your legs.

3) The Jumpsuit-
The jumpsuit is another fun alternative option for formal wear. There are so many amazing varied options to choose from on the high street right now and if you pick a luxe fabric in a fitted style they can be ideal for formal occasions. Glam it up a little with dressy dainty clutch bags and jewellery and like the suit stick with barely there sandals or pointy toe stilettos to finish your look.r

So there you have it a whole new set of style rules and ideas to get your head around. I hope my suggestions will bring you some inspirations when shopping for your next formal ensemble.

Until next time,
